Pages help you develop holistic, engaging content by empowering you to create, curate, and blend components to create a single learning activity. Pages combine a simple, but powerful text editor with formatting tools and modular components for intuitive content development, and next-level engagement.

In this article you'll learn how to create a Page and what type of components can be added to a Page. We'll also cover the properties specific to Pages, give you details on pulling reports for Pages, and point you to a resource to help you build your first Page.

Create a Page

  1. Navigate to Content in the admin nav panel.
  2. Click + New and choose Page.
  3. Give your new page a Title.
  4. Assign the page to the appropriate Locale - if needed.
  5. Use the Scheduled Activity setting to enable live events - if needed.
  6. Click Create.

Building a Page using Components

A page starts out as a blank slate, with a single plus-sign icon at the top. When you start work on a new page - or add a new component to a page - you've got two choices:

A new Page with no content or components added.
  • Start Typing: Begin typing in the space provided to add a Post component.
  • Click the + icon
  • Select from the following components to add them to a page:
    • Photo
    • Video
    • Link
    • File (PDF, MP3, eLearning, etc.)
    • HTML

To insert a new component on the page, click on an existing component and hit the Enter/Return key, this adds a new line with the + icon - ready for your next component.

Page Components - File Size Limitations

While there is no limit to the amount of text or number of Post components that can be added to a Page, the following file size limits apply to Photo, Video, and File components added to a Page:

  • Photo components: 10MB
  • Video components: 3GB
  • Other File components: 10MB

Formatting Components


You can access text formatting options by selecting any text in a page - as seen below:

The styling ribbon provides the ability to bold or italicize text, hyperlink text, use H1 or H2 headers, create bulleted or numbered lists, or format text as a blockquote.


After an image is uploaded, selecting it reveals image options that control the size of the image on the page - normal, wide, or full-width - let you add a link to the image, or enter a caption for the image:

Once uploaded, click on a Photo component to access image options - or add a caption.


Video components also include menu options that let you control the size of the video on the page: normal, wide, or full-width - or enter a caption for the video.

Add a Link component by dropping a URL in to the address bar - and watch our open-asset platform at work. If you're linking to media like a Youtube video, the platform will generally embed it in the page for learners to view. For other URLs, learners will see a preview of the linked content and a prompt to visit the link.

You can upload other file types to your page using File components. File components can be documents, spreadsheets, slide decks, etc. - upload any file you need your learners to be able to access. Our open-asset platform identifies the type of file added to the page and gives learners the appropriate option for each.

Pages give you the option to include HTML components with a built-in editor that supports HTML and markdown formatting for text and graphics, and embedding content from the web.

  1. Click the + icon and select Add HTML .
  2. Use the HTML Embed Code Editor to add and edit HTML/markdown.
  3. Preview and Save your content.
  4. The page is updated with your HTML component content. Select the component and click the <> icon to edit the component.

Heads Up!

Custom code added to HTML components is not validated by the platform. Adding incorrect code as an HTML component may cause issues on a page.


Even though a page activity behaves like other activities in that it creates a single enrollment and activity completion, admins can track individual components included on a page via the "is_page_component" field in the Activities API, which is also available in the Activity and Enrollment reports.
